Before it all begins...

Tomorrow starts my first official day as a teacher...well I'd like to think of myself as just an intern, but this is like my first year of teaching experience. I like the fact that I can still hold the title of student through my grad school status and I'm not getting paid, so it's not quite out in the real world yet. For the next week I will be invovled in meetings, classroom setup, and other organizational things to get our classrooms ready for the students to arrive next monday. I will be working in a 1st grade classroom with a mentor teacher. For the first half of the year I'll be getting used to the role of teacher and then be able to take on more responsibilites towards the end of the year. I've heard that the internship can be very stressful, but I'm so ready for something different and challenging. I feel like I am able to manage my time well and my organizational skills will help me to not lose control. You'll be able to tell if I'm stressed out or out of time if I don't write on this blog for long periods of time. I've heard many suggest writing down experiences and suggestions, so I'm not only starting this blog, but I'll also be recording my thoughts in a diary format, and I'm sure I'll be doing lots of writing for my grad classes. Hopefully it'll be fun writing that helps me to think about and reflect on my experiences. I'll try to keep this blog less scholarly and more informal. Wish me luck on my first day!!!
